Several picks offer increased RAM and faster processors to handle business tasks or student projects more efficiently. You can compare these models to find a balance between the original’s portability and the enhanced performance or screen real estate you need for your daily routine.
Our top pick: Acer 11.6" Convertible Touchscreen Laptop.
How alternatives compare to the Acer
Dell Latitude 14-Inch FHD Laptop
The Dell Latitude 14-inch model swaps the convertible touchscreen for a fixed 14-inch FHD display. You gain significant processing power with an Intel Core i5 processor and 16GB of RAM, compared to the Acer’s 4GB. The 256GB SSD offers much more storage than the 64GB found in the Gateway. This laptop weighs 3 pounds, making it lighter than the 4-pound Acer. It is best for business users who need robust performance and a larger screen, rather than touch flexibility. You give up the 360-degree hinge and touch input to get better speed and memory.
Aurant 15.6" Ryzen 5 Laptop
The Aurant 15.6-inch laptop provides a much larger display with a numeric keypad, addressing the small screen size of the 11.6-inch Acer. It includes 8GB of RAM, doubling the memory available on the Gateway. The device weighs 3.64 pounds, which is slightly lighter than the Acer. You lose the convertible touch functionality and the compact form factor. This pick suits users who find the original too small for comfortable typing and viewing. It is ideal for basic office work where screen real estate matters more than portability or touch interaction.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 13.5" Touch
The Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 features a 13.5-inch high-resolution display, offering sharper visuals than the Acer’s HD screen. It includes 16GB of RAM and a Ryzen 5 processor, providing significantly more power than the Gateway’s Intel chip and 4GB of memory. The device weighs only 2.78 pounds, making it the lightest option here. You sacrifice the convertible hinge and touch screen for a premium build and better performance. This model is for users who value screen quality and speed over raw storage capacity or included accessories like chargers.
HP 14" FHD Intel N150 Laptop
The HP 14-inch laptop offers a larger 14-inch FHD display compared to the Acer’s 11.6-inch HD screen. It is designed for basic office tasks and student use. The device weighs 3.24 pounds, which is lighter than the 4-pound Acer. It lacks the convertible touch feature and 360-degree rotation found in the Gateway. This option fits remote workers who prioritize portability and included software over high processing power. You get a larger, sharper screen for a lower weight, but you give up touch input and flexible positioning.
Dell Latitude 14-Inch Core i5 Laptop
The Dell Latitude 14-inch Core i5 model provides a 14-inch FHD display, offering more screen real estate than the Acer’s 11.6-inch panel. It includes 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, significantly upgrading the Gateway’s 4GB RAM and 64GB capacity. The processor is an Intel Core i5, which is faster than the Acer’s base Intel chip. The laptop weighs 1.48 kilograms, approximately 3.26 pounds, making it lighter than the Acer. You lose the touchscreen and convertible design. This pick is for business users who need security and speed over touch functionality.
HP x360 11.6" Touchscreen Convertible Laptop
The HP x360 11.6-inch is a direct competitor with a similar compact form factor. It includes 8GB of RAM, double the memory of the Acer Gateway. The screen size is identical at 11.6 inches, and it also weighs 4 pounds. You gain more memory but may find the screen resolution lower than the Acer’s HD IPS panel. This model includes an Ethernet port, which the Acer lacks. It is best for students who value portability and wired networking. You get better RAM and connectivity, but you may sacrifice some display clarity and storage capacity.
