Looking Beyond the GIGABYTE Aorus 17 Gaming Laptop? 6 Alternatives Worth a Look

How each alternative compares

GIGABYTE Aorus 17.3" RTX 4070 Gaming Laptop

This model shares the same 17.3-inch 240Hz display and RTX 4070 graphics as the GIGABYTE Aorus 17. It also retains the 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD configuration. The primary difference lies in the chassis dimensions. This unit measures 0.87 inches in height, which is slightly thinner than the 0.89-inch profile of the original. The weight is also marginally lower at 6.19 pounds compared to 6.22 pounds. These minor adjustments may appeal to users seeking a nearly identical performance profile with a slightly more compact physical footprint. The core gaming capabilities remain consistent with the reference model.

ASUS ROG Strix G16 RTX 4070 Gaming Laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 shifts to a 16-inch QHD display, reducing screen real estate from the 17.3-inch panel. However, it upgrades the processor to an Intel Core i9-13980HX, offering more cores than the i7-13700H. It keeps the 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. The RTX 4070 graphics card remains the same. This laptop is heavier at 7 pounds and slightly narrower. It suits users who prefer a 16-inch form factor but want higher-end CPU performance. The trade-off involves a smaller screen and increased weight for the processor upgrade. It is ideal for those prioritizing CPU power over maximum display size.

MSI Vector 16 RTX 5070 Ti Ryzen 9 Laptop

This MSI model introduces an RTX 5070 Ti graphics card, a significant step up from the RTX 4070. It uses a Ryzen 9 processor instead of an Intel Core i7. The screen size is 16 inches, which is smaller than the 17.3-inch display. It includes 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. The chassis is compact, measuring 14.1 inches in length and weighing 5.95 pounds, making it lighter than the original. This configuration targets users seeking next-generation GPU performance in a smaller, lighter package. The trade-off is a smaller screen and a different processor architecture, but the graphics upgrade is substantial.

ASUS ROG Strix 18 RTX 5060 Gaming Laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix 18 features an 18-inch Mini LED display, offering a larger canvas than the 17.3-inch panel. It uses an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor and an RTX 5060 graphics card. The RTX 5060 is a newer generation but generally lower tier than the RTX 4070 in raw rasterization power. It retains 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. The laptop is heavy at 6.28 pounds and measures 15.7 inches in length. This model is designed for desktop replacement use where screen size and brightness are priorities. Users who value a massive, bright display over maximum GPU power should consider this option.

ASUS ROG Strix G16 RTX 5060 Gaming Laptop

This ASUS ROG Strix G16 offers a 16-inch 2.5K 240Hz display, which is smaller than the 17.3-inch screen. It pairs an Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU with an RTX 5060 graphics card. The RTX 5060 is a newer generation GPU but sits below the RTX 4070 in performance hierarchy. It includes 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. The device weighs 6.02 pounds and has a 13.9-inch length. This laptop suits users who want a compact 16-inch form factor with modern internals. The trade-off involves a smaller screen and slightly lower GPU performance compared to the original, but with a more recent CPU architecture.

HP Omen 16 RTX 5070 Gaming Laptop

The HP OMEN 16 features a 16-inch display, which is smaller than the 17.3-inch panel. It uses a Ryzen 9 processor and an RTX 5070 graphics card. The RTX 5070 offers a performance jump over the RTX 4070. It includes 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. The chassis is compact, measuring 14.1 inches in length and weighing 5.4 pounds, making it the lightest option here. This model is ideal for users who want strong GPU performance in a lighter, smaller body. The main compromise is the reduced screen size, but the graphics upgrade and portability make it a strong alternative.
