How each alternative compares
GIGABYTE Aorus 17 17.3-Inch RTX 4070 Laptop
This GIGABYTE Aorus 17 model shares the same 17.3-inch 240Hz WQHD display, Intel Core i7 processor, and RTX 4070 graphics as the top pick. It also includes 2TB of SSD storage. The primary difference lies in the chassis thickness. This version measures 0.89 inches tall, which is slightly thicker than the original's 0.87-inch profile. It weighs 6.22 pounds, compared to the original's 6.19 pounds. These minor dimensional changes do not affect performance. You get identical gaming capabilities and screen quality. Choose this if you find it available at a different configuration or price point, as the core specifications remain effectively the same for desktop replacement use.
HP Omen 16 Ryzen 9 RTX 5060 Laptop
The HP Omen 16 shifts to a 16-inch screen size, reducing the display area compared to the original's 17.3-inch panel. It uses an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor instead of the Intel Core i7. Graphics are handled by an NVIDIA RTX 5060, which differs from the original's RTX 4070. This laptop features 32GB of RAM, offering more memory than the original's 24GB. Storage is a 2TB SSD, matching the original. The chassis is more compact at 14.1 inches wide and weighs 5.38 pounds, making it lighter than the original's 6.19 pounds. Pick this if you prefer AMD processing power and want a slightly more portable form factor without sacrificing storage capacity.
MSI Katana 15.6" i7 RTX 5070 Gaming Laptop
The MSI Katana reduces the screen size to 15.6 inches, moving away from the original's 17.3-inch display. It retains the Intel Core i7 processor but upgrades the graphics to an NVIDIA RTX 5070, which offers higher performance than the original's RTX 4070. This model includes 32GB of RAM, exceeding the original's 24GB. Storage remains a 2TB SSD. The laptop is significantly more compact, measuring 14.1 inches wide and weighing 5.29 pounds, compared to the original's 6.19 pounds. It lacks a specified refresh rate in the provided data, but the higher-end GPU and increased RAM make it suitable for users who prioritize graphical power and multitasking memory over the larger screen real estate of the original.
Alienware 16-Inch RTX 4070 Laptop
The Alienware m16 R2 features a 16-inch display, which is smaller than the original's 17.3-inch panel. It uses an NVIDIA RTX 4070 graphics card, matching the original's GPU. However, it includes 32GB of RAM, providing more memory than the original's 24GB. Storage is a 1TB SSD, which is half the capacity of the original's 2TB drive. The display refresh rate is 240Hz, identical to the original. The chassis is more portable, weighing 6 pounds versus the original's 6.19 pounds. Choose this Alienware model if you need more RAM and a slightly lighter build, and can accept less storage space. It is ideal for users who value memory capacity and portability over maximum storage volume.
Lenovo LOQ 15.6 RTX 5060 Gaming Laptop
The Lenovo LOQ 15.6 reduces the screen size to 15.6 inches and lowers the refresh rate to 144Hz, differing from the original's 17.3-inch 240Hz panel. It uses an Intel Core i7 processor and an NVIDIA RTX 5060 graphics card, which is a lower tier than the original's RTX 4070. This laptop offers 32GB of RAM, exceeding the original's 24GB. Storage is a 2TB SSD, matching the original. The chassis is the most compact in this list, weighing only 5 pounds compared to the original's 6.19 pounds. Pick this Lenovo model if portability is your main concern. You trade screen size, refresh rate, and graphical power for a significantly lighter device with ample memory and storage.
Alienware x16 R2 16-inch Gaming Laptop
The Alienware X16 R2 features a 16-inch QHD+ display, which is smaller than the original's 17.3-inch WQHD panel. It uses an NVIDIA RTX 4070 graphics card, matching the original. The display refresh rate is 240Hz, identical to the original. Storage is a 1TB SSD, which is half the capacity of the original's 2TB drive. The chassis is notably thinner at 0.73 inches and weighs 6 pounds, making it slightly lighter than the original's 6.19 pounds. This model is best for users who prioritize a sleeker design and color accuracy. You gain a more portable form factor and thinner profile but lose storage capacity and screen size compared to the original GIGABYTE Aorus 17.
