Key Differences in Specs and Build
Dell Latitude 14-Inch Core i7 Laptop
The Dell Latitude 5490 swaps the i5 for an i7 processor, offering more raw power for heavy multitasking. It retains the same 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD configuration as the original model. However, it is significantly larger and heavier, weighing 5 pounds compared to the 3.88 pounds of the Latitude 7420. The chassis is also thicker at 1 inch versus 0.5 inches. You should choose this alternative if you prioritize processing speed over portability. The increased weight and size make it less ideal for frequent travel, but the stronger CPU benefits stationary office work.
Dell Latitude 14-Inch Core i5 Laptop
The Dell Latitude 5420 matches the original with an i5 processor, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD. It offers a similar performance profile for business multitasking. The main difference is its weight. This model weighs only 3 pounds, making it lighter than the 3.88-pound Latitude 7420. It is also slightly thinner at 0.76 inches compared to 0.5 inches. The display resolution is FHD, matching the original 1920x1080 screen. Pick this option if you want comparable specs in a more portable package. The lighter build is better for users who carry their laptop daily.
Dell Latitude 14-Inch FHD Laptop
The Dell Latitude 5410 provides the same core specifications as the original: an i5 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. It shares the 14-inch screen size. The key distinction is its weight. This laptop weighs 3 pounds, which is lighter than the 3.88-pound Latitude 7420. It is also thicker at 1 inch. The build is designed for reliable daily computing. Choose this alternative if you value a lighter device for office tasks. The reduced weight improves portability, while the identical memory and storage ensure similar performance for standard applications.
Dell Latitude Rugged 14" Touchscreen Laptop
The Dell Latitude Rugged 5420 features an i5 processor, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD, matching the original's core specs. It includes a 14-inch FHD touchscreen, adding interactivity the original lacks. The build is designed for harsh environments, making it bulkier at 1.3 inches thick and weighing 3.88 pounds. The processor is an older i5-8350U, which may be slower than the newer i5-1145G7 in the original. Select this model if you work in field conditions. The rugged design and touchscreen offer durability and control, but it sacrifices the sleeker, more modern internals of the Latitude 7420.
Dell Latitude 14-inch Core i7 Laptop
The Dell Latitude 5420 i7 variant upgrades the processor to an i7, providing stronger performance for demanding business tasks. It keeps the 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD found in the original. However, it is heavier at 5 pounds and thicker at 0.8 inches compared to the 3.88-pound, 0.5-inch original. The screen is FHD, matching the original resolution. This alternative is best for users who need maximum processing power in a 14-inch form factor. The increased weight and size are the trade-offs for the faster i7 chip and robust connectivity options.
HP OmniBook 3 14 Snapdragon X Laptop
The HP OmniBook 3 14 differs significantly by using a Snapdragon X1 processor instead of an Intel Core i5. It offers 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD, matching the storage and memory of the original. The device is lighter at 3.13 pounds and thinner at 0.58 inches. It features an OLED display, which provides better visuals than the original's standard FHD screen. Choose this laptop if you prioritize battery life and screen quality. The ARM-based processor may affect software compatibility, but it delivers excellent efficiency and portability for everyday office productivity.
