How each alternative compares
HP 14-Inch Intel N150 Laptop
The HP 14-Inch Intel N150 Laptop swaps the convertible touchscreen for a traditional clamshell design. It runs Windows 11 Home instead of Chrome OS, which suits users who need standard desktop applications. Like the ASUS, it features 8GB of RAM, but the processor is an Intel N150 rather than a Celeron N4500. It weighs 3.24 pounds, making it slightly lighter than the 3.59-pound ASUS. You gain familiar Windows ergonomics but lose the 360-degree hinge and touch interface. Pick this if you prefer a classic laptop layout and do not need a tablet mode.
Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch M3
The Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch M3 offers significantly higher performance with its M3 chip compared to the ASUS Celeron processor. It features a much sharper 3024 x 1964 display, far exceeding the 1920x1080 resolution of the Chromebook. It includes 512GB of SSD storage, which is faster and more capacious than the ASUS 128GB eMMC. The MacBook weighs 3.4 pounds, similar to the ASUS, and maintains a slim 0.61-inch profile. You trade the touchscreen and Chrome OS for macOS and superior processing power. Choose this for professional work where raw speed and display quality matter more than touch versatility.
Dell Latitude 14-Inch Core i5 Laptop
The Dell Latitude 14-Inch Core i5 Laptop provides a quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, which outperforms the dual-core Celeron N4500 in the ASUS. It runs Windows 11 Pro, offering advanced management features absent in Chrome OS. Storage is 256GB SSD, double the ASUS capacity and faster than eMMC. It weighs 1.48 kilograms, approximately 3.26 pounds, making it lighter than the ASUS. The design is a standard clamshell, so you lose the convertible touchscreen functionality. This model suits business users who need stronger processing for multitasking and prefer a traditional laptop form factor over a 2-in-1 device.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 14" Laptop is an ultralight option weighing just 2.49 pounds, significantly lighter than the 3.59-pound ASUS. It uses an Intel Core i5 processor, offering better performance than the Celeron N4500. Storage is 256GB SSD, providing more space and speed than the ASUS 128GB eMMC. It features 8GB of RAM, matching the ASUS, but the memory is soldered, so you cannot upgrade it later. The design is a rigid clamshell, meaning you give up the touchscreen and 360-degree hinge. Select this if portability and business-grade performance are your top priorities.
The ASUS Chromebook Flip 14 2-in-1 is another convertible option with an 8GB RAM configuration. It shares the same 14-inch screen size and likely similar dimensions to the original CX1 model. This alternative offers the same 2-in-1 flexibility, allowing you to use it in tablet or tent modes. It runs Chrome OS, just like the original, ensuring compatibility with web-based apps. The storage is listed as 128GB, matching the original. You might choose this if you find a better price or specific color option. It provides nearly identical functionality for students and casual users who need touch versatility without upgrading to a more powerful Windows machine.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 14" Ultrabook
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 14" Ultrabook provides enterprise-level Windows 11 Pro utility in a compact 2.5-pound chassis. It features an Intel Core i5 processor, which is more powerful than the ASUS Celeron N4500. Storage is 256GB SSD, offering more capacity and faster access than the ASUS 128GB eMMC. It includes 8GB of RAM, similar to the ASUS, but lacks a touchscreen and convertible hinge. The design is a traditional clamshell, focusing on durability and business features. This model is ideal for professionals who need reliable daily computing and legacy ports, sacrificing the touch interface and tablet mode found in the ASUS Chromebook.
